Sandy is the Office Manager and handles all Accounts Payable/Receivables. She tries to keep the Somes-Nick ship afloat (as cumbersome as that is most of the time).

He is a graduate of Purdue University (’81 BSMET). Prior to joining S-N, Ed spent 2 years as a Sales Engineer with Spirax-Sarco, and 5 years as QC and Field Service Mgr with Allied Valve Industries. In addition to assigned accounts in the Chicago Area, Ed’s territory includes Northern Illinois, Northern Indiana and Michigan(LP).

Mary is likely the one who answers our phone when you call (be nice). She serves as our Customer Support Specialist with an emphasis on order entry and expediting for the OEM and Distributor clients.

He is a graduate of SIU-E with a Communications degree. George is our lead Inside Sales Specialist who handles a good chunk of our daily customer inquiries. Referred to by some as “the radio voice”.

Mark Brown serves as Somes-Nick’s local representative for Iowa, Nebraska, and Minnesota. Mark resides in Iowa and provides a dedicated regional presence to support customers with steam turbine, valve, and broader steam system needs. When he’s not camping or making venison jerky, Mark works closely with Somes-Nick’s engineering and technical teams to ensure customers receive responsive support for parts, service, upgrades, and new equipment opportunities. Mark is committed to being a reliable, accessible resource for plant personnel throughout his territory.

Travis is our local Michigander and a graduate of Saginaw Valley State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. He brings a strong background in technical sales, with extensive experience serving paper mills throughout the region. Travis oversees a territory that includes Michigan, Wisconsin, and northern Indiana. Whether he’s supporting a processing plant, refinery, working with a paper mill, or helping a developer plan a new project, Travis has quickly established himself as a driven and dependable resource customers can count on. While he proudly bleeds maize and blue, he’s committed to delivering top-notch service to every university steam plant and distribution system he supports…Even the green-and-white ones.

A graduate of Columbia College Chicago with a BA in Marketing, Rob proudly represents the third generation at Somes-Nick. Keeping the family tradition alive, his “quick site visits” often turn into full-day “trial & error” projects deep in the mechanical room underbelly. Rob’s role focuses on key business development efforts. He remains very involved with our customers across the Chicagoland area.

Rob Brennan is a 18 year veteran of the steam industry. Rob specializes in high efficiency, on demand steam boilers and steam system management. Rob handles boiler sales throughout our territory.

Gus represents the other half of Somes-Nick’s third generation. He is a graduate of University of Kansas with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Prior to joining S-N, he worked with Halliburton as a field engineer in hydraulic fracturing. Gus serves as a key operations manager, acting as a reliable resource for our outside sales team, and maintaining a lead sales role with many of our clients. He also drew the short straw as our unofficial “IT and program development head”.

He’s farm raised from the cornfields of Central Illinois with an extensive background in various areas ranging from rotating equipment, industrial, heavy equipment, petroleum, military, and automotive. John covers outside sales for us in the central & southern regions of Illinois and Indiana.

He is a graduate (barely) of Rose-Hulman (BSME). Before coming to Somes-Nick, he worked for Ingersoll Rand and Graham Manufacturing. Tom handles a few key accounts.

R.I.P. Bill Dwyer 1949-2021

Bill Dwyer was an extremely valued part of Somes-Nick and is deeply missed. Bill recently passed away and previously worked for Coppus Steam Turbine Company in Worcester, MA. A native New Englander and graduate of Norwich University (BSME), Bill was the token Red Sox fan.
